The Salvation Army International Heritage Centre preserves and promotes the rich history of The Salvation Army from its origins in the 1860s to the present.

Our extensive collections document the varied work of this global Christian church and charity in the UK and in over 130 countries worldwide.

The International Heritage Centre comprises an archive, reference library and two museums, as well as being responsible for records management in the UK & Ireland.


As Assistant Archivist, you will work as part of a small team to accession, appraise, catalogue and preserve the organisational archives, including digital records.

You will help people to engage with our collections by enabling access to archives remotely and in our public reading room, and by creating content for our website and social media.

You will also work closely with our Social Historian to support people in accessing records of The Salvation Army's social services, including children's homes, maternity work and adoptions.
