Description
Bettws Lifehouse, an Independent Special School, has 2 Wellbeing Support opportunities. The positions will be based at our Kingsland Grange site, and within our high needs faculty, in Shrewsbury.

This faculty offers education to children aged between 12 and 17 who have a history of challenges in education, and frequently a number of past exclusions.

Working a 39 week term, the job has 13 weeks of school holidays, although some preparation for term is expected.

Salary is annual and not pro-rata to term time. These posts allow a fantastic opportunity for a genuine, committed and rewarding career.


Required Skills:


  • Developing a knowledge of a range of learning support needs and to develop an understanding of the specific needs of the students to be supported.
  • Setting tasks and activities which engage and challenge, ensure high levels of interest
  • Physically fit & able to keep up with the children's energy levels
  • Sporting ability and interest
  • Creative and inspiring able to engage children in a range of learning experiences and develop positive attitudes to learning
  • Committed to a genuinely childcentred approach to learning and to creating opportunities for all children to thrive.
  • Nurturing and able to provide the very highest standards of acceptance, care and understanding to our pupils.
  • Reflective and passionate about improving your own practice, in order to provide the best experiences you can to our children
  • Able to support children to use and develop positive strategies for coping and for regulating their own behaviour.
Previous experience with SEN pupils would be an advantage, as would relevant qualifications in these areas.

Our pupils have a range of challenges from moderate learning difficulties to social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and present challenging behaviours.

In addition, you will have a distinct advantage if you have:

  • Qualification and knowledge of ASD, ADHD, PDA and attachment issues
  • Deescalation and physical Intervention experience
