The Post

The Student Counsellor is part of the Guidance Team, which comprises Counselling, Wellbeing, Safeguarding and Welfare, Student Services, Tutors and Careers.

The position will work in partnership with the other in-house College Counsellor/s.

Referrals can be made to the Counselling Team for 1:1 confidential support which is offered initially as a 6-week programme.

In addition, we also have three Wellbeing Coordinators, who are available for student drop-in, to triage support and to signpost students to the most appropriate kinds of support for them.

The Guidance Team is led by the Guidance Leadership Team.

This consists of the Assistant Principal (Student Progression and Support), two Heads of Year and the Head of Student Personal Development who meet once a week to discuss the strategic and operational needs of the guidance elements of College, and to consider case studies of students in particular need.

The Guidance Team meets at least once per half term to discuss a wide range of issues relating to students' support and guidance.

A full induction and training programme will be available to guide new colleagues through and beyond their first year of operation.

This will cover all aspects of the role, such as monitoring and recording using our ProMonitor software; liaising with parents and a range of external agencies and a whole range of technical and knowledge areas that we will be glad to support you with.

We need you to be someone who is genuinely committed to helping young people realise their potential in any number of ways.
