Costain are recruiting for a
Design Managerto join our growing design team working on our Severn Trent Water framework.


About the Project


Costain is working closely with Severn Trent Water on their Capital Delivery Framework, as part of its c£2 billion capital programme for AMP7.

As part of the Design and Build Framework lot, Costain brings together its design, construction, and consultancy expertise to undertake renewal and refurbishment projects and will assist Severn Trent in its target to make continuous improvements to its safety performance, whilst ensuring continuity of supply and consequently lowering costs of its customers.


About the role


Reporting to the Framework Principal Design Manager you will be responsible for the design management of non-infrastructure projects on the Severn Trent Water AMP7 Framework.

Adopting hybrid working you will split your time between the offices in Strensham and home where you will support the delivery team in managing projects through preliminary, outline, detailed design, and construction support


Key Responsibilities
Identify design scope and deliverables
Review and challenge of the design programme
Management of design deliverables
Challenge design solution to ensure DfMA and low carbon solution which meet the Clients affordability challenges
Hold and record regular design meetings and workshops
Coordination and management of design reviews, technical assurance reviews and CDM reviews
Implementation and management of the project BIM strategy
Maintain professional working relationships with the Design Team, Delivery Team, Commercial Team, and Employer Team and communicate well with them
Liaise closely with other members of the Project Team to support procurement decision making for each package of work


About You
Degree/HNC/HND or degree in a relevant engineering discipline
Progressing towards a Chartered professional review with relevant chartered body
Good communication and collaboration skills
Good technical understanding of water and wastewater processes and asset types
Commercial and contractual appreciation to support the required commercial outcomes
Good understanding of programme preparation and management
Experience and knowledge of CDM Regulations
Experience of delivering multi-disciplinary design/construction projects
Experience of technical project delivery in a design-build environment (essential)
Experience in leading and managing multi-disciplinary design teams (essential)
Experience of working in Joint Ventures (desirable)
Experience working within the water sector particularly non-infrastructure in either a Mechanical, Electrical ICA or Civils disciplines in maintenance, design, or capital delivery roles
Driving licence required
