Safe Start School Tameside, is an Independent SEN provision for students 11-16 years with additional needs.

The well-being and achievement of every child are of utmost importance to us and it is only through a supportive partnership between students, families, school and other professionals that we can achieve this.


We are looking for a reception/attendance officer who must be, adaptable, imaginative, creative and flexible in their approach to work, be self-motivating and have the ability to identify their own training needs and a willingness to attend relevant training courses or other training.


Essential Skills & Experience:


  • Educated to Level 3 or above
  • Minimum of one year of administrative experience
  • Minimum of one year attendance officer experience
  • A good understanding of the Independent School Standards

- specifically Part 2.2
  • Excellent working knowledge including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small office team
  • Ability to establish good working relations at all levels of the Institution with students, teachers, senior management, Board of Trustees, Inner Circle membership group etc.
  • A pleasant manner with visitors
  • Good organisation skills, ability to multitask, prioritise effectively and work to tight deadlines
  • Understanding of equal opportunities
  • Have an inclusive attitude

Desirable Skills & Experience:


  • Specific experience of working in a school
  • Understanding of the Independent School Standards
  • Minute writing skills
  • Experience with SIM databases, particularly MIS/ BROMCOM


Our children all have EHCP's and additional SEN and Behavioural needs which can result in physical intervention at times, all our staff are CPI trained and supported through training programmes to deal with challenging behaviours/situations.
