The Role


As a Hydrographic Surveyor, you will be responsible for the preparation, calibrations, offshore execution, data processing, data management and reporting of offshore and onshore survey projects.

Further to this, you will be responsible for acquiring and processing accurate positioning data of the vessel and all sensors.


Key Responsibilities

  • Online operation of survey systems and data QC providing documentation and communication including shift handover, field reporting and daily project reporting including Qinsy/EIVA Navigation and Acquisition, GNSS Positioning, USBL, AutoCAD etc.
  • Assist the Party Chief, other Surveyors or Survey Technician with calibrating sensors and DIMCON as required.
  • Assist with the installation, calibration and maintenance of all survey equipment offshore as required.
  • Acquiring and processing accurate positioning data for the vessel and all onboard sensors.
  • Assist with project preparation and project closeout reports including actioning of engineering notes, ensuring effective data management.
  • Participate in the MMA Subsea Services Survey Competency Assurance System (CAS) by assessing field staff competencies with the Survey Manager.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree, specifically Surveying or Marine Science, or equivalent, or equivalent technical.
  • Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable).
  • Valid BOSIET and CA-EBS or equivalent offshore licence (desirable).
  • SSSI membership and active maintenance of a field logbook is desirable for the Certified Professional Hydrographic Surveyor (CPHS) accreditation program.

Essential Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years offshore field experience.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of marine geophysical survey techniques acquisition, processing and reporting.
  • Proficient with a variety of field concepts, practices, procedures and equipment operations including GNSS, Navigation software, positioning systems, Subsea Gyros, SSS, MBES, SBP, USBL and seismics.
  • Experience with operating online and offline software such as MS Office, QINSy, EIVA, Qimera, Coda/Sonarwiz among others.
