1 x Fixed Term contract/secondment opportunity for up to 12 months
- Internal applicants who wish to be considered for a secondment opportunity should discuss with their line manager the suitability of a possible secondment*The Legacy Mentor role is a rewarding opportunity which will appeal to an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse in the mid to late stages of their career. This role could include helping and supporting newly qualified or new to area / department nurses, internationally educated nurses, AHPs, students and those in other clinical roles, by imparting knowledge, skills and experience through coaching and supporting colleagues through early and transitional stages within their careers.
We can all reflect on the importance of mentors and role models in our own careers, and this is an opportunity to have that kind of influence on the incoming generation as they set out on a career, and others who are progressing in their career, in Mental Health service provision.
The successful applicant will work flexibly within Wotton Lawn Hospital whilst establishing and maintaining a connection with the Professional Development & Clinical Skills Team and other teams within GHC Learning and Development Dept e.g.
Level 1 Registered Mental Health Nurse Professional Registration with the NMC is required, in addition to mentor and coach colleagues experience in teaching, coaching, supervision, and supporting learners in practice (as a practice assessor) is required.
You will need to demonstrate empathy and patience, be passionate about your profession and be able to provide pastoral support to others.
You will need to be confident in building relationships and collaborating with others. You will be providing coaching and mentoring.- To help facilitate a positive working environment for those early and transitioning nurses, providing support through coaching and mentoring
- Coach newly qualified clinical professionals and / or students on placement to enhance their knowledge and skills
- Provide clinical expertise on a range of projects, supporting best practice and enhancing the learning environment for all
- Liaise and work with other practice area support staff to ensure consistency across the setting and blended learning approaches to support the transfer of learning/skill attainment
- Raise the profile of the role of legacy mentors and share good practice with others, enhancing the profile of the organisation and providing support to managers
