Team/Shift Leader (Full Time)

Hours:
Full Time shift hours available. Every other weekend working is required. Flexibility in covering weekends, annual leave and sickness.


Renumeration:
Salary: Starting at £11.64 per hour Mon to Fri depending on experience. Enhanced rates at weekends.

The Abbeyfield (Somerset) Society currently has a vacancy for a Shift Leader.


Are you a warm, engaging and caring person; who really appreciates the needs of older people, and is willing to go that extra mile in supporting the Care Home and its residents? We are looking for someone who has a passion for supporting older people in a residential setting and for people living with dementia to help them to continue to build and develop new relationships, support them to make friends, begin a new adventure, and help them to do something they have always wanted to do.

You will support our residents to make choices and do the things they want to do, not what we want them to do.


The role under the supervision of the Team Supervisor/Unit Manager:

  • As a valued member of our team, key to helping us provide the support and care our residents deserve
  • The supervision of the residential unit in the absence of the Team Supervisor
  • Management, ordering, auditing and administration of medication
  • Mentorship & coaching of junior staff to support professional development
  • Demonstrate a personled approach and be a role model for our values and behaviours
  • Overseeing, providing and meeting the personal, emotional and mental health care needs of the residents which promotes independence
  • Completing digital care plans, risk assessments and reviews with professional, families and the residents
  • Dedication to providing outstanding care and quality of life to the residents
  • Possess excellent social and communication skills and be someone who leads by example

What you will need:


  • Experience of leading a team
  • Good knowledge base or willingness to learn the Mental Capacity Act, Best Interests Framework, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and Adult Safeguarding
  • Computer skills use of digital care planning systems
  • NVQ 3 or equivalent in care/or be willing to complete
  • Flexibly across varying shifts, including weekends
  • Compassion and integrity
  • Be passionate, possess good communication, organisational and time management skills
  • Friendly, warm and enthusiastic character
