Monday - Friday 08:30 - 16:30 (with half an hour of lunch to be taken on-site)

Job purpose:


Assisting the Creative Arts Co-ordinator in planning, organising, and delivering creative activities and work placements for a group of artists with learning disabilities and/or autism who attend 09:00-16:00 daily.

Leading the creative projects at our Rotherham service with the opportunity to develop projects, exhibitions, installations and commissions for ArtWorks in the local area and taking the idea of disabled artists that attend from concept to creation.

Facilitating a team to provide support and guidance to the artists to develop and progress their own individual practice.

Providing a need-led service to adults with learning disabilities and/or autism, by adopting a person-centred approach that fosters self-awareness, and personal growth and gives each person the strongest voice with regard to decision-making and lifestyle choices.

Professionally leading the care team during any span of duty, ensuring that a safe, effective, and efficient level of support is maintained to an industry-leading standard.


Key responsibilities and accountabilities:


  • Assist the Creative Arts Coordinator in maintaining, budgeting, and planning creative activities and exhibitions for the artists considering each service user's needs and requirements.
  • Assisting Senior Management with the daily operation of the organisation.
  • Provide leadership and support for all staff and volunteers, and act as a champion for artists' safety and dignity.
  • Ensure that clear and accurate records and communication systems relating to all organisational activity are maintained and effectively used.
  • Run and facilitate creative workshops for our artists to participate in. Support individuals with their own creative practice by offering guidance and support. Facilitate activities off-site including our volunteer programmes, community workshops, gym and swim sessions and life skills.
  • Highlight and action plan any care concerns that may arise, ensuring open and effective communication.
  • To ensure the safe day-to-day running of the community centre.
  • Working with the Care Manager to ensure that there is a safe staff-to-artists ratio and that any care-related concerns with the artists are raised with an appropriate action plan timescale in place.
  • To work with the Care Manager to highlight any communication needs the artists may have, and work together to implement systems to ensure artists are able to understand and be understood.
  • To liaise with the local community to ensure the community centre is meeting the needs of the local area and supporting our artists to improve the local area through artistic endeavours and charitable actions.
  • Ensure jobs are delegated fairly amongst the team to ensure the environment is kept clean, safe, and tidy and GDPR safe.
  • Collaborating with other art organisations and spaces to ensure partnership workings are maintained and new ones established.
  • Ensure that workshop leaders are completing the work schedule four weeks in advance, encouraging them to plan and implement meaningful workshops for the artists, giving them the opportunities to learn new techniques and experience different mediums.
