NOAH is a charity that helps people experiencing homelessness, extreme poverty, and other disadvantages to make positive changes in their lives.
We do this by providing care and advice services, training and wellbeing workshops, and opportunities for employment.NOAH has created a new service providing kitchen fitting and general DIY skills for customers in their own homes.
As part of this service we are offering a six-month paid placement assisting our Kitchen Fitter to provide a high quality, reliable, and competitively priced kitchen fitting and handyperson service.
No experience is required as you will gain on the job training and support to potentially achieve a long-term career in the trade industry.
This new role is for anyone who is interested in starting a career in kitchen fitting or the manual trades.
You will assist the fitter to complete manual trades jobs, working in customer's homes completing kitchen fitting and general handyman jobs.
- kitchen fitting - building flatpack furniture, installing units, tiling, laying floors, decorating, fitting worktops
- tiling - floors and walls
- hanging doors, attaching architrave/beading, replacing locks
- erecting sheds, fences, garden furniture
- DIY skills such as putting up shelves, assembling furniture, replacing kitchen doors
Over the six months you will learn about quoting for jobs, measuring and working out volumes to order, materials and their uses, terminology and how the trade industry works.
Working with the supervision of our experienced Fitter, you will be required to assist in the manual handling of all tools and materials, complete jobs to the highest standards, understand how to give excellent customer service, and ensure all sites are left clean and tidy.
You will have an eye for detail, with a flexible, friendly nature when interacting with customers, end-users and other site trades.
You will need to be local to Luton, but you will be collected by the fitter and then travel together to the customer's homes around Bedfordshire.
