Job description:

At Ofqual, the security and safety of our People, our Technology, and our working Environment is paramount.

Working with the wider Ofqual leadership team and through building strong relationships with our shared Security Advisor as well as the wider Government Security community.

The Deputy Security Advisor leads and drives the development of effective Security practices, processes, and a secure-by-design organisational culture.


The role of the Deputy Security Advisor is a varied and fast-paced role which will see you using a range of skills to, amongst other activities, run training and engagement exercises such as Cyber Security Escape Rooms, implement and configure new Security focused Technology solutions, develop and report against key performance measures and to review and evolve business processes to broadly improve Ofqual's security posture.


To be successful in this role you will need to be an inspiring leader who leads by example and is able to work in a pressurised environment with ambition and an enthusiasm that motivates those around you to deliver and better assure security across Ofqual.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with Ofqual colleagues, the shared Security Adviser (SA) for regulators, security colleagues in government and UK Intelligence Community.
  • Lead on understanding key threats to Ofqual and government using this information to identify and mitigate the risks to Ofqual.
  • Support security colleagues to identify how to manage security risks across Ofqual and build a network of security contacts Ofqualwide, working closely with colleagues to advise on technology, HR and estates so our security needs are met.
  • Act as liaison and intelligent customer, support security colleagues to own and request delivery of critical services from the Government Security Centres and from colleagues across the wider Government Security Profession.
  • Actively engage with colleagues, our Regulator SA, Government Security Centres and National Technical Authorities to ensure service standards are maintained.
