About the role

Harington's Day Service provision offers horticultural activity of a therapeutic nature to young people and adults aged 16 and over with a learning disability or mental health support needs.

The role of the Day Service Co-ordinator will be to coordinate the Harington's Day service provision, two days a week, based at the Harington Highgate site.

The role will ensure that social and therapeutic needs are met through horticultural and enrichment activities.

This will include planning the structure of the programme across the year and ensure that it is differentiated to provide an individual programme for each service user to meet their personal and learning needs.

The Day Service is also responsible for helping to maintain the Harington's 1.5 acre site, so the role will need to liaise with other Horticulture and Gardening staff to ensure any activities also support the needs of the site.


About you
You are a keen gardener and have previous experience of working with students with learning disabilities.
You have a relevant vocational qualification and/or proven knowledge and experience of horticulture.

You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with patience and understanding to work with students in a manner which gives them maximum choice and independence.

Our students undertake individualised learning programmes that lead to vocational qualifications and other aims, including gardening, retail, English, maths, employability and independent living.
