Description

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new knowledge and data-driven tools to strengthen monitoring and implementation of policies addressing water scarcity in agriculture
  • Advance understanding of barriers to agricultural water use monitoring
  • Develop tools utilizing Earth Observation and geospatial models to improve information on irrigated cropland areas and water use patterns
  • Embed data in river basin planning frameworks to support design and implementation of water management strategies

Project Details:

The project will be carried out in seven living labs in river basins facing water scarcity challenges

Qualifications:

  • PhD or nearing completion in fields like remote sensing, agriculture, hydrology, or environmental sciences
  • Expertise in earth observation imagery analysis and geospatial data manipulation using R or Python
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Interest in using data-driven methods for environmental and natural resource management
  • Experience in policy-oriented research and development of data or software products
