Description

Looking for your next Consultant role - Then we have a wonderful opportunity for you to join our Nephrology Service as a Locum full time Consultant post in Nephrology.

You will join a team of 12 Nephrologists, Basildon has a team of six nephrologists and Southend has a team of four Nephrologists, in the regional kidney service hosted by Basildon hospital and delivered at all three hospital sites within the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust.

The NHS is changing, we are entering a new era in healthcare: one where everyone has a choice of where they receive their treatment and there are core NHS principles which outline the provision of care.

This creates new and exciting challenges for us, gone are the traditional hospital and community care settings, replaced by a competitive more commercial environment, where the Trust is judged on the whole experience, from technical excellence, through to care and comfort.

You will be based at Basildon and Southend Hospitals with a 1 in 3 rota for covering in-patients approximately half of a ward of 15 patients.

In your role you will be responsible for weekly clinics and for managing a cohort of Haemodialysis patients at Southend with an opportunity to develop regional specialist clinics across all three of our sites.

You will be expected to contribute regularly to procedure supervision and training of the renal STs and trust grades, participating in the rota with other Consultant Nephrologists to cover inpatient and on-call commitments and in addition, you will be expected to contribute to the education of trainees, quality improvement, research activities, and clinical governance of the service.

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is now one of the largest in the country, with a workforce of approximately 15,000 who serve a population of 1.2 million people.

We work together, and in conjunction with MSE Health and Care Partnership, to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and wellbeing of our patients in a compassionate way, and provide a respectful, but vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

From facilities through to consultant specialists we want to be the best, to achieve this we need to recruit not just those who are the finest in their field but also those who have the potential to be.

Yes, experience is important but so is outlook - if you are dynamic, forward-thinking and enthusiastic we want you to join us.

We not only offer you a good working environment with flexible working opportunities, but also the opportunity to develop your career with access to appropriate training for your job and the support to succeed and progress.

Please see the JD and job plan for this challenging role attached.

This will be discussed in detail with the post holder on appointment and may evolve in response to changing service demands.
