For over 25 years, Hudgell Solicitors has provided legal advice to clients across the UK looking for genuine, clear and honest support with legal disputes relating to medical negligence, personal or criminal injury, civil liberties, travel and actions against the police and inquests and public inquiries.
We are looking to recruit a Legal Secretary to join us in our prestigious office in the centre of Manchester.
You will provide high level secretarial and administrative support to various teams across the business, ensuring all communications are handled in a confidential, efficient and diplomatic manner.
About the Role
Main responsibilities
- Typing dictation and preparing correspondence and documents
- Formatting, paginating, numbering and presenting documents
- Using Proclaim case management system
- Processing and distribution of all incoming telephone calls, including the logging of calls and the conveying of messages
- Opening and distributing incoming mail and tracing post/invoice references and preparing outgoing post
- Sorting of outgoing cheques and letters for posting
- Logging and recording of special deliveries
- Assisting with booking meeting rooms/visitors to the premises
- Booking and maintaining the interview and training rooms
- Undertaking other clerical and administrative duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.
- Ordering and maintaining stationery supplies
- Liaising and assisting the Hull office when help is required with business events for the Manchester office
- Liaising with the site management company and using their online portal

- Previous experience working in a law firm or in a similar role within professional services
- Ability to provide support with all administrative activities
- Excellent communication, client care and relationship building skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team but also have the ability to work independently
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure with good management and organisation skills
- Excellent attention to detail and levels of accuracy
- Experience in digital and/or audio typing
- Be proactive and able to use own initiative
- Solid IT Skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe and knowledge of using case management software
