Our client based in Lancing is seeking an experienced Site Operations Supervisor for a Waste Management Company.


You will be responsible for ensuring the power plant and site are operated and maintained efficiently and in accordance with company procedures, good practice, health & safety requirements, and the environmental permit.


Salary:

- £56,650.00 plus 10% Bonus of annual salary (Overtime paid at time and half)


Shift Pattern - 2 days on, 2 nights on, 4 days off, this repeats for 7 occurrences, then 14 days off, then repeating.


Shift Hours:
Day - 7am to 7pm and Nights 7pm to 7am

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe & efficient operation of the plant/site and attending to equipment breakdowns.
  • Carry out plant inspections, adjustments, readings and maintain all data accurately to ensure compliance with the Environmental Permit.
  • Supervising contractors, reviewing RAMS, and ensuring all work is carried out in line with company legislation and processes.
  • Maintain accurate record of equipment stock, including receiving goods to site, storing in the correct location, filing delivery notes and notifying relevant staff of their arrival.
  • Ensuring the plant is operating within its parameters whilst complying with strict Health, Safety and Environmental rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Using a DCS/SCADA system to start, stop and monitor turbines, boilers, pumps, conveyors etc., reacting to warnings/alarms promptly.
  • Conducting regular planned preventative maintenance (PPM) inspections on equipment.
  • Be punctual, reliable, and flexible to cover sickness, holiday, and extra shifts as and when required.
  • Identify areas within the plant for improvement to increase efficiency/availability.
  • Actively involved in tasks during planned and unplanned outages.
  • Responsible for Health & Safety including but not limited to ensuring that the appropriate PPE is worn by all staff and contractors, safe working practices are followed, defects or concerns are reported and resolved, and the plant is operated in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Responsible for lockouts, issuing and cancellation of Permits to Work.
  • Training of less senior staff.
  • Writing and reviewing of company procedures and Risk Assessments.
  • Responsible for ensuring the plant is operating at its optimum performance at all times and if not investigating and resolving issues.
  • Responsible for monitoring levels of all stocks onsite and requesting reorders as required, including but not limited to consumables and spares.
  • Responsible for monitoring quantities of APC Residue and requesting collections and organising consignment notes for the collection.
  • Responsible for monitoring timekeeping of staff and reporting concerns to management.
  • Responsible for ensuring all staff are engaged and occupied productively at all times
  • Responsible for carrying out regular site inspections throughout the shift, identifying defects and rectifying or raising maintenance requests if required
  • Ensuring the security of the site is maintained at all times in line with company procedures.
  • Housekeeping, directing staff to ensure plant is tidy and tools and equipment are stowed away correctly after use.
  • Responsible for being aware of all faults, issues, changes, etc that have occurred during off periods when returning to shift.
  • Responsible for undertaking various activities such as QAL 3 checks, daily sample preparation, noise monitoring, vibration analysis etc.
  • Initial inspection of site within the first hour of shift handover and addressing any issues that arise.
  • Responsible for keys in the Key Cabinet and 2 way radios.
  • Responsible for Shift Mobile Phone;
  • Ensuring it is kept on your person during the shift (along with a 2 way radio) and is responded to.
  • If out in the plant and you may not hear the ringtone check it at least every 15 minutes
  • Can be entrusted to your Technician if you have to be in a noisy area for a period of time but they must respond to the phone in the manner described above.
  • First Aider appropriate training will be given
  • Fire Warden appropriate training will be given
  • Any other tasks the company may reasonably expect or request.
