Job overview:


The post holder will be working in collaboration with healthcare colleagues and educators to ensure that the clinical education and development needs of the Adult ED Nursing workforce are identified and addressed using approved, proven and credible methods.


Working under the management of the Matron, the Band 7 Cross Site Clinical Educator and the Band 7 Team, the post holder will be a visible role model, providing clinical support and practical guidance to clinical teams in ED.


Main duties, tasks & skills required:

The post holder will support the Adult Nursing team in ED, liaising with the adult Clinical Education teams to support and facilitate training needs and requirements.


Link in with appropriate multi-professional groups and be a visible presence in the clinical areas attending trust /divisional/group meetings when required.

Under the direction of the Matron and Senior Sisters the Clinical Educator will implement education plans and will provide support to:
oPoor performers

oNew starters

oAll registered and unregistered nursing staff participating in development programmes/ rotational programmes

oStaff undertaking academic study at Higher Education Institutes

oStaff who need achieve competence following skills training

oUnregistered staff undertaking the care certificate


In collaboration with the Trust Education teams the post holder will assist in the development and maintenance of national initiatives related to education and continuing professional development such as the Care Certificate, and Nursing Revalidation and clinical skills training.


Collaborate with Senior Sisters/ Charge Nurse to facilitate staff attendance at internal and external study days, training courses, mandatory training, academic modules and education events such as away days and conferences.

Ensures that details of study leave are communicated and subsequent release of staff from clinical areas is managed according to the current study leave policy.

Ensuring the process is fair and equitable.

Qualifications:


Essential:

Registered Nurse/ Midwife on the NMC Register

Or

Registered Operating Department Practitioner on the HCPC register

Recognised current mentor and NVQ assessors course or equivalent

Evidence of continuous professional development


Experience:


Essential:

Recent significant experience working in an acute clinical area for the NHS/ healthcare setting.

Can demonstrate understanding and evidence of experience in practice based supervision and assessment

Experience in mentoring, facilitating groups, and coaching others

Knowledge of clinical governance and risk management

Ability to support reflective practice

Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues

Application and understanding of professional policies and procedures

A sound understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and processes
