Description
We are looking for a person to register as our Responsible Individual with Ofsted.

The role itself is 16 hours per month which includes: Upto 14 hours auditing and 2 hours in a Management Team meeting with the company's Director and Manager.

Job Specification:

Introduction:
The 'responsible individual' is the person who represents their organisation. You must have a responsible individual in post at all times. If there is an emergency, you should appoint a responsible individual as soon as possible. Unlike a registered manager, a responsible individual is not registered by Ofsted

Suitability:

The Responsible Individual must have experience in children's social care, understand effective practice in responding to the needs of looked-after children, local authority care planning duties, and how children's homes are required to support these.

Salary:

The Salary for the role is £12,000.00 annually. This averages at £1,000.00 per month.

This can be paid by:
PAYE or Sole Trader.

Hours of Work:
There are no specific times of work, this is to be decided by the individual in the role.

The company Director asks that you commit 16 hours per month, 14 of which will be spent across the two properties auditing, the other 2 hours can be worked remotely.

The company asks that your phone is switched on and you are always available for contact between the hours of 0900 until 1700, Monday to Friday.

The company wishes that if you are unable to take the call, you will be able to respond within the hour.

In the even of illness/ annual leave the company wishes for you to pass on any relevant information to the company's Director, who will then take the responsibility on a temporary basis.

Annual Leave:
The annual leave for this role will be negotiated and includes bank holidays. The company guarantees this will mirror with any annual leave taken within another role outside of the company. In this event, the company's Director will take temporary responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

The Responsible Individual's role is to supervise the management and delivery of the service and ensure that you are meeting your regulatory requirements.

The Responsible Individual must have experience in children's social care, understand effective practice in responding to the needs of looked-after children, local authority care planning duties, and how children's homes are required to support these.

As the regulator of children's homes, Ofsted can at any time scrutinise the fitness of a Responsible Individual, either through inspection or as a stand-alone event.

Regulation 26(7)(b) requires the Responsible Individual to have the capacity, experience and skills to supervise the management of each children's home they are Responsible Individual for.

This will include demonstrating that they have the essential skills needed to develop the leadership and management of homes within their remit such that the homes have the capacity and capability to meet the Children's Homes Quality Standards.

There is no limit to the number of homes that a person can be appointed as a Responsible Individual for, but they must be able to demonstrate that they can effectively supervise the management of each home individually, as well as all of the homes overall.

The homes included are Fairview and Moorside. This will not increase within the first year of opening. Registered Individuals hold a key leadership role. They have overall responsibility for supervising the service management and ensuring the quality of the services provided.

Although it is the Responsible individual's responsibility to supervise all stated directly above it is our expectations that you liaise with the company's Director, who will then take on the physical responsibility to act upon the action plan.

The Children's Home Quality Standards are clear in their intention to directly link the leadership requirements and the level of quality in a service.

So the quality of the services provided in your organisation is, in a very real sense, down to the leadership you show in your role as Registered Individual.

We are looking for a person to register as our Responsible Individual with Ofsted.

Expectations of the Role:

A key expectation is to oversee the company's Director and chosen Manager, ensuring that there are adequate numbers of staff in place (1 Manager, 10 staff, 5 bank), that the necessary resources and equipment are in place, that the staff are sufficiently trained, and that children are safe from harm and abuse.

Ultimately, a failure in any of these areas will be the responsibility of the responsible individual and the organisation.

Supervising the home management means that people in the role must have strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in partnership with the Registered Manager.

The Responsible Individual is responsible for Management Supervision which holds managers accountable for the services they deliver a
