College location: Working for John Ruskin College (Selsdon) at our site based at Sutton United Football Club
Hourly pay: £29.77/hour (£24.97/hour + £4.80/hour as payment for annual leave)
Hours: 9 hours per week, Tuesdays: 08:45-10:15, Wednesdays: 08:45-10:15, 10:30-12:00,14:45-16:15, Thursdays: 10:30-12:00, 13:00-14:30
We are currently seeking to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic GCSE English Lecturer to join our friendly and hard-working team.
Please note this is to specifically to teach GCSE English (not ESOL or functional skills)
This post provides the opportunity to plan and teach engaging GCSE English classes to students from our various College vocational areas. You will have an innovative approach to teaching and will ensure that lessons are designed to not only develop skills but that they connect to the industry in which the students aspire to work in.
We are looking for professionals who are results focused with the drive to achieve excellence. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to:
* Deliver inspiring teaching and excellence in planning, motivating and assessing learners, acting as Course/Subject Leader as required
* Contribute to the planning, development and review of activities, including course reviews, self-assessment and other college QI activity
* To promote high levels of retention, achievement and attendance within the learner population
The successful candidate must:
* Have a full teaching qualification
* Be qualified to degree level in English or have an equivalent industry/professional qualification
* Extensive teaching experience within GCSE, ideally within a College environment
* Be highly motivated and possess exceptional organisational skills
PLEASE NOTE: Following current Government COVID-19 guidance the majority of our staff are working remotely and not on the College campus. It is therefore highly desirable that candidates have experience of working from home and using remote learning platforms to deliver online learning to students (e.g. Microsoft Teams or Zoom) in order to successfully carry out their role. Alternatively it is essential that they can demonstrate the capability to adapt to this and pick up the required Technological knowledge very quickly.
