Are you a newly qualified Speech and Language Therapist or experienced and looking for a new challenge? The Children & Young People’s Integrated Therapies Service at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust is looking to recruit to Band 5 Speech and Language Therapists to join our large and innovative team of therapists and assistants in Hertfordshire. Positions are available in our St Albans/ Hemel team (3 days per week) and Hertford (full time).Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust provides integrated OT, Physiotherapy and Speech & Language Therapy Services for children and young people across the county. Our service is jointly commissioned by health and education, allowing us to provide a seamless pathway of care from early years through to schools, specialist provisions and further education settings.As a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist you would be providing assessment and intervention to children and young people with a range of speech and language needs, working regularly across a variety of settings including mainstream schools, community clinics and other early year’s settings such as Family Centres. These posts may also include sessions in a special school for children with learning difficulties, where you will have opportunities to work with children with more complex communication difficulties. We have also embraced telehealth and you will be involved in expanding our virtual interventions.As part of our 3 Tier Model of service delivery, we are committed to developing the skills of the children’s wider workforce. As such there will be opportunities for partnership working with other health professionals, education colleagues and care staff across the different settings. This will include the delivery of high quality training for school staff, parents and pre-school settings, often in conjunction with colleagues in education, for example Elklan training.We have an excellent reputation for the support we provide for new graduates and returners. The Children and Young People’s Integrated Therapies Service has strong clinical leadership and actively supports continuing professional development through a well-established appraisal system, with regular supervision and access to a range of learning opportunities e.g. bitesize tutorials and CENs, including Autism and DLD. You will have regular clinical supervision and contact with your manager and you will also receive informal support from a peer who remembers well what starting your first post is really like. A Band 5 peer support group meets regularly for both professional development and peer support.Flexibility and the ability to work with a variety of people across a range of settings will be required.
