Department As part of the Data team, the Market Data Systems team is responsible for the key set of systems around the different Market Data databases available in the company (pricing and fundamental data), which includes market data feeds and exposure of the data to users, in some cases using web queries in Excel. We have a strong interaction with the Data engineers and Data Technology Developers which ensures we get the best exposure to the latest technologies implemented in the company. The team is based on the front office trading floor, has a broad range of complementary skill sets and is dynamic yet highly disciplined in its approach. Fully integrated in the business, the Market Data Systems teams acts as the interface between the business and the various IT departments. It is uniquely positioned to understand the business context in which the trading applications are deployed and the close collaboration with the key stake holders is of paramount importance. Position purpose Responsible for the analysis, development and support of market data systems used by the Front Office teams, Middle and BackOffice as well as EDF Group and other partner companies. The Market Data Systems include data services for the onboarding, storage and delivery of market data, both internal and externally generated. This will encompass requirements definition and gathering, technical design and development through to unit testing, deployment and documentation. Data access support will be required for a range of applications and tools which call upon EDFT’s Market data systems. These applications and tools are written in a variety of technologies/languages. Main Responsibilities Onboarding of data: Engage with the users to understand and take ownership for the delivery of any development work according to a Kanban prioritised backlog. Develop and enhance market data feeds for new products. Expose the data to users. Liaise with Office teams, Middle and BackOffice, as well as EDF Group, to facilitate their smooth interaction with the database. Support to the Business: Provide a support service for the applications and databases under the team’s remit. This covers the following: Diagnose and resolve day-to-day production system issues providing timely feedback to the various business desks. Analyse and investigate process failures providing timely, accurate and robust solutions or workarounds, within critical deadlines. Support the New Data Initiatives from the wider Data Engineering Team: Immediately escalate operational incidents within the production environment covering the London and Paris trading floors to the relevant department. Support the Market Data manager on monitoring the support and work queues and prioritising the work for the team. Development projects: Cataloguing and validation of data. Data Cleansing. Enhancements of current technical systems Migrating of data to new Data Structures Processes and Procedures: Adhere to the company’s development standards and best practices as defined by the Data Team. Ensure that solutions are implemented correctly, properly documented and easily supported by the team. Ensure that any developments you are responsible for are delivered on time, within budget and meet the expectations of the user. Ensure that incidents are logged and regular updates are provided to enable the team to monitor the resolution of the incident. About you Your experience: You are experienced and confident performing in a similar technical role. You should be able to solve complex problems independently. Proven experience in a development and support role (minimum 3 years) Ideally previous experience in Data Management and/or a Front office environment. Degree qualified, preferably in computer science or equivalent experience. Your skills and ability: Ability to work under own initiative with demanding users in a fast-paced trading environment A very proactive individual able to handle development and support activities simultaneously Capable of conducting effective requirement gathering in a busy Front Office as well as extrapolating information from vague or short descriptions Hands-on approach, flexible with a positive outlook Capacity to understand business-processes quickly Excellent communication and inter-personal skills to facilitate and liaise with other support and development teams Ability to fully participate in multi-faceted team environment Good problem-solving skills Attention to detail and strong focus on accuracy of information Able to multitask, switch focus and prioritise own tasks under pressure Takes ownership of any issues that come up and facilitates their resolution quickly using own initiative while managing expectations Must have good written and verbal communication skills Your technical skills Essential skills: Fluent in a programming language Java or C#.NET Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server. Desirable skills: Microsoft Excel (including web queries) and VBA IIS, ASP Windows 2016 server administration Microsoft Azure Powershell Python JSON Team Foundation Server Certificate Authority Hours of work: 8.30am – 5.30pm, Monday to Friday Currently the Market Data team performs a Mon-Fri on call support for business-critical activities. This support is out of office hours and there is a rota between a few team members. Please note, the candidate will be required to join this rota once fully trained.
