What do our Support Workers do? Penny Meadow is an active respite service for people aged 18+, with learning disabilities and communication needs.As well as Monday – Friday day service activities Penny Meadow also has an onsite respite service where they support up to two individuals on a short term overnight stay.Shifts are 4pm to 9am which includes a sleep in. We also have added day shifts on the weekend. Some weekend work is part of the role, along with lone working and administering medication. This position requires candidates who are also willing to work across different services when needed. What experience do you need? You don’t need to have experience to be a good Support Worker. If you are caring, kind and want to work in a job that is genuinely rewarding, this is for you.You’ll need to have great communication skills and be comfortable making decisions. A basic level of English and Math is also required.An NVQ 3 in Health and Social care would be a strong advantage, or the willingness to work towards this.
