Job Req Number: 31448Time Type: Full TimeBRIEF OVERVIEWThe Ocean Import Supervisor has a very varied role and requires someone who is extremely well organised and familiar with how a business operates. Working as an Ocean Import Supervisor also requires someone with an outgoing personality and capable of negotiating with external agencies and maintaining business relationship. KEY TASKS • You will be responsible for supervising department budgets and may also be involved in setting targets in association with other senior managers.• The Import Supervisor is expected to prepare reports on the performance of your department , suggest and drive improvements that will enhance the company’s profit margins, as well as work closely with other senior department heads for the benefit of the company.• Maintain records for accounting purposes in accordance with company procedures• Negotiate with carriers, warehouse operators or distribution networks to determine tariffs which should be in the interests of the company at all times.• Develop and maintain business relationships with both customers and suppliers. • Providing hands on support to our Ocean Imports Team. Offer advice and share industry knowledge, assist with staff training and development, acting as a mentor and positive role model, leading by example at all times. • Deal with a variety of commodities for all shipments. • Manage shipments from booking to delivery • Deal with all queries quickly and efficiently. • Liaise with overseas agents and hauliers.• Build good working relationships with both customers and colleagues. • Arrange shipments for FCL & LCL ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS• You will need to have at least 5 years’ experience in freight forwarding as a supervisor or similar • Experience leading a small team • Experience using Cargowise systems • Excellent problem solving, planning & organising skills. • Excellent communication/telephone skills.
