We are undergoing one of the biggest transformations in retailing today to build a bigger, better, fresher food business!This is an unique opportunity to work in one of the 10 Strategic projects within the M&S Food Group Transformation. The Lowering Costs Program has been set up to reduce the cost base of the business to allow strategic investments into the future of Foods. After 3 successful years in Cost of Goods, the scope of the programme has broadened to include OPEX spend.We are looking for an individual who can deliver value to the business quickly. The successful candidate will work as part of a central team and be focused on timely execution of lowering cost opportunities. The successful candidate will work alongside a Project Manager and another Value Optimization Manager. The role will have high levels of exposure to both internal and external stakeholders and will provide great insight into the Food Operating ModelKey accountabilities and measuresSupport delivery of the Foods Transformation Strategy, realising stretching targets to improve group profitability Identify, Deliver and Embed cost reduction initiatives in OPEX Cost Areas and the end-to-end supply chainDesign and Implement more efficient processes and ways of working in OPEX Cost AreasEngage with OPEX budget holders, Financial Leads and SMEs, driving collaboration internally and externally with suppliers and partnersBuild relationships and a network of stakeholders across the business to facilitate the sharing of best practice Support the governance, tracking and reporting of performance across the programme Champion and nurture a cost-conscious attitude and cultureApply if you have; Proven track record delivering cost reduction programmes in an FMCG and/or Food Retail environment Ability to analyse and interpret data to draw insight, opportunity, and action Exposure on short term tactical initiatives as well identifying the need for and leading the development of longer-term strategic initiativeExperience of contract negotiation, management, and critical appraisalProcess improvement, value stream mapping and change management experience Practical experience or consultancy in Supply Chain, Logistics and Marketing would be beneficial
