Annual salary: up to £105,000.00Mears are looking to recruit a Construction Director to lead and deliver an extensive new contract, a development of 750 care homes across a dedicated area within Cornwall this high-profile contract is part of our Mears Extra Care Division.The RoleThe contract will include build, maintenance and management of all property lettings and will incorporate a place making project across a 30-year contract.The Construction Director will be reporting at Managing Director level and be responsible for overseeing the construction of all Extra Care facilities which will be a 7 to 9 year project. Mears will be responsible for the lifecycle of the project from design, planning, technical specification, cost plans, on site construction through to handover. This will also include managing business models and planning.About MearsWe are a multi-disciplinary business within Mears Group PLC, voted top 250 employers. We recognise our people as our greatest asset and as such we believe this is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional operation professional to make a real difference to customers, communities, and the people they lead.Accountabilities of the roleLead on Health & Safety ensuring this is always put first, that projects comply with Mears SHE procedures and that high standards are always maintained. Lead by example on Health & Safety. Hold and chair monthly SHEQ meetings for department. Providing project direction, focus and consistency across all departments. Prepare and issue necessary board reports, senior management, and department reports. Staff retention and staff recruitment to meet department needs. Maintain and manage staff within departments. Manage client relationships, develop as required. Ensure departments maintain high level of customer satisfaction. Manage commercial position within departmentsEnsure collaborative and cohesive working between technical, commercial, operations and customer care departments Regular monitoring of progress on each site and implement necessary measures to ensure the contract and target programmes are met. Work with and update management system as necessary.What are we looking for?We are looking for a Construction Director who may be located in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset or Somerset, it is imperative that you have a base in order to be easily located to the Site in St Austell or be within reasonable commuting distance.The role will suit a Construction Director, Pre-Construction Director or Operations Director with proven commercial experience, this is a broad and encompassing role which will allow a professional to define, shape, lead the project. You will have extensive experience of good construction practices that enhance the performance, profitability, and reputation of the business. Strong, effective leadership background, excellent people manager with the ability to get the best out of their teams. Professional qualification or accreditation – CIOB or similar, NVQ or similar in site management. 3 to 5 years in a similar position. Operated successfully with commercial and project accountabilities. Ability to manage a multi project contracting business. Technical proficiency in continuous construction.
