The role...We are looking for a Research Manager to join our specialist policy area covering Employment, Welfare and Skills and Trade, Innovation and Enterprise. You will primarily work across multiple projects and methodologies supplying timely and high quality research under an existing client contract. Research will cover high profile policy areas including welfare, pensions and child maintenance policy. Managing quantitative and qualitative research projects through an existing client contract Building and managing effective client relationships through strong communication with individual client teams and their stakeholders (including policy makers) Being the key point of contact for the client on project-related matters, taking a proactive approach to develop knowledge of the client’s business Effectively managing relationships with suppliers and with internal operations colleagues to ensure research objectives are met and on budget Monitoring contract and individual project finances, identifying problems and suggesting solutions Drafting questionnaires, discussion guides and other fieldwork materials that meet clients’ and stakeholders’ objectives Writing reports and presentations that deliver insights to meet the client's objectives Working with the client and colleagues to share knowledge and identify new research opportunities Write smaller proposals and contribute to more complex proposals Providing guidance, support and coaching to junior team members. What do I need to bring with me? Excellent quantitative and qualitative social research skills, and ability to comfortably pick up projects and deliver day-to-day Excellent project and budget management skills Strong communication, client handling and supplier negotiation skills Excellent attention to detail, organised, and solutions-focused Time management skills, working across multiple projects, prioritising tasks efficiently Ability to work to tight and demanding deadlines to deliver profitable work and assure quality of all outputs Proven experience in writing questionnaires, discussion guides, fieldwork materials etc. Proficiency in Excel, SPSS and other packages Ability to understand and interpret complex quantitative and qualitative data. Confident and clear written and verbal communication skills, including experience of preparing written reports and presentations, with a high level of accuracy. Proven ability to work well in teams with input from specialists (e.g. qual recruiters, evaluation practitioners, and economists) Interest in developing junior members of the team to fulfil their potential Policy knowledge and expertise in relevant areas or ability to pick up new policy areas
