Description:What's involved with this role: Health and Safety and Infection Control specialist to work with the Electoral Services Managers to help plan and co-ordinate Covid-19 safe elections, with a focus on the health and safety of staff, electors and candidates/agents at polling stations and count sites.To co-ordinate the implementation of Health and Safety guidance and Infection Control to the Returning Officer and Electoral Services Managers within East Hertfordshire District Council, to ensure that elections and counts take place in a COVID-secure manner.To help plan and co-ordinate Covid-19 safe elections, with a focus on the health and safety of staff, electors and candidates/agents at polling stations and count sites.To start as soon as possible, to work on a full-time basis for a fixed term of no more than three months, including some out of hours working.Specifics: Collaborate with Infection Prevention and Control professionals to interpret all relevant guidance, and consider the implications on health and safety of all staff, volunteers and citizens involved in elections and counts Use a range of resources to implement relevant guidance for the Returning Officer, Electoral Services Managers and election staff to ensure the effective operation of a COVID-secure election site Contribute to the development of strategies and plans, including site specific plans Review and provide feedback on any plans and guidelines already produced within DBC. Interpret and implement guidance on the types of PPE, cleaning equipment and regimes, screens, waste disposal and other resources necessary Advise on, develop and, where necessary, deliver training to Returning Officer, Electoral Services Managers and election staff, on Health and Safety and Infection Control Matters. Provide a Single Point of Contact for Returning Officer and Electoral Services Managers for queries relating to the operation of COVID secure election sites and counts. Work with colleagues to provide in-person support through visits to election sites and counts before and during election days. Qualifications: NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent Experience: Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation In depth experience of Health and Safety legislation and working methods that need to be applied to ensure compliance Extensive experience of working within a compliance role impacting on statutory Health and Safety issues Managing and procurement of risk assessments and the implementation of the actions identified. Extensive risk assessment experience and a proven track record in setting up a statutory compliance system.
