We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Physiotherapist to join our Therapies Team, reporting to the Director of Care, Health & Wellbeing. You will provide physiotherapy assessment and intervention within a residential specialist college for young people who have learning disabilities. Working as part of a multi professional team you will be responsible for individual assessment of Physiotherapy needs. Alongside this you will provide advice and support and consultation to the team working with students. This includes Nurses, Managers, Teachers, and support workers and families. Key Role Specific Responsibilities: • To undertake physiotherapy assessments for identified students at Derwen. College, and recommend appropriate strategies for the wider team to implement. • To manage a caseload of students, using evidence based principles, working flexibly and collaboratively to meet student’s needs. • To provide advice and consultation to students family and staff at Derwen College. • To be responsible for the prescription and safe use of specialist equipment and provide any necessary training to students, staff and parents. • To contribute to admission assessments and reviews including Education and Health Care Assessment (EHCP). • Be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your own and delegated work. • Work within codes of practice and professional guidance. • Keep the student at the centre of care, ensuring student and carer participation in decision making. • To provide clinical and managerial leadership to therapy assistants • Use evidence-based practice to ensure the therapy delivered is appropriate and effective. • Communicate with relevant college staff, students and external agencies/bodies, parents and third parties. • To plan, deliver and participate in CPD teaching sessions for staff. • Participate in audit, review and evaluation. • Participate in regular clinical supervision. • Ensure that accurate and timely records are kept to comply with HCPC guidance. • Contribute to risk assessments and health and safety assessment and including immediately reporting any/changes/newly identified risks. Person Specification: • Specialist Qualification – Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy Therapy and HCPC Registered. • Experience of supporting young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, beneficial • Evidence of continuing professional development of self and others • Knowledge of CQC framework / external quality standards and inspections • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects • Outstanding communication skills with individuals/staff at all levels • Highly motivated individual able to work autonomously • Competent in MS Office We can offer the right candidate a well-resourced and modern working environment, situated in a beautiful rural setting.
