Instrument Field Engineer – Based Throughout Europe – Staff Position - £Neg – Highly Regulated Sites. Our client has manufacturing plants throughout the UK and Northern Continent, your role would be to support a number of these production facilities across Europe. Maintaining these plants in peak operating condition is crucial to our business, and we rely on a highly skilled European Field Maintenance team to provide planned & unplanned maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and on-call breakdown cover to ensure quality production with minimal downtime. The team also supports plant improvement projects, and commissioning activities for new plants and additions to existing production plants. This successful candidate will be primarily focused on practical work at the various production plants and can be based in one of several locations in the UK, Netherlands or Belgium. Regular travel will be a key feature of the role. The role * Responding to any major occurrence of plant breakdown, carrying out prompt inspection, analysing the fault, repairing and re-commissioning affected plant and equipment to ensure the minimum loss of production. * Providing maintenance support to operating facilities, including maintenance technical support, as well on-site routine or major shutdown related maintenance. Supervising contractors and/or staff and ensuring that the work is adequately planned and executed safely at a high level of effectiveness. * Working closely with the turnaround leadership teams to ensure work is planned, prepared and executed in a safe, cost-effective and timely manner * Completing plant modifications according to central design specification, submit self-generated design changes to specialist technical engineers for approval before implementation. For some projects, you will be required to generate scope, determine costs, obtain approval and execute the work scope. * Reviewing and updating the technical content of the preventive maintenance procedures and recommending changes where improvements in safety, quality or economy may be affected * Providing training to the company, joint venture, and third-party personnel in maintenance practices. Essential experience * Proven experience as an Instrument Field Engineer, ideally in an industrial gas or petrochemical environment and displayed technical proficiency in dealing with the broad variety of control and instrumentation systems and equipment found in plants. * Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work unsupported and make an effective contribution to the department objectives. * Completion of a Formal Instrumentation Apprenticeship, HNC or equivalent * The ability to read instrumentation drawings, trip panel drawings, logic diagrams and tables, PLC and DCS configuration. * Good verbal and written communication in English. * Flexibility to travel across Europe. * A strong desire to acquire new skills and experience in a positive learning environment.
