We are looking for a highly-motivated, ambitious individual, with aspirations of leadership and personal development. An opportunity for a Senior or Principal Air Quality Consultant to join our exciting national Air Quality Team, be the South East regional lead for Air Quality, and contribute to our growth alongside our expanding team in London, SE1 3LE.

The team has a diverse portfolio of work, typically delivered alongside a number of our other consultancy services. Recent projects include assessment work for Hinckley Rail Interchange (a large national infrastructure project), modeling work for Silverthorne Lane and Pines Way developments in Bristol and Bath, and NO2 monitoring around two major football stadiums in London. As standard, we continually strive to use the most accurate data and have developed our own in-house tools for model development and data analysis using R.

Your role will include:

  • Team growth / recruitment;
  • Leading and mentoring of junior staff;
  • Contributing to the Business Development activities of the London office / Southern region;
  • Undertaking Air Quality Impact Assessments involving road traffic, combustion processes, dust and odour emissions, as well as Air Quality Neutral and Damage Cost calculations;
  • Air quality dispersion modelling and indoor and ambient pollutant monitoring;
  • Assisting with development of modelling and data analysis capabilities;
  • Report writing and contribution to Environmental Statement preparation;
  • Liaising with local authorities;
  • Providing support to Environmental Permit applications;
  • Providing support for Planning Appeals/Public Inquiries/Committees;
  • Client liaison/business development;
  • Attending public consultations;
  • Presenting at conferences and events
  • What we’re looking for:

  • BSc/MSc or equivalent in a relevant degree discipline
  • IEMA/IAQM/IES membership and working towards Chartership
  • Knowledge of legislative and planning framework
  • Experience of modelling packages, ideally ADMS-Roads, AERMOD and ADMS 5 and automatic model generation would be advantageous
  • Excellent numerical skills
  • Grasp of R, Python or similar scripting language
  • Competent user of Microsoft Excel and GIS proficiency an advantage
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally, with strong report writing skills
  • Familiarity with commonly applied air quality monitoring methods
  • An understanding of the underlying issues surrounding air pollution
