We have an exciting opportunity for an HR Advisor to join us at Graham Plumber’s Merchant. This is a new role for the business and you’ll be joining at an exciting time. A complex business, we are going through extensive change, which will mean our managers and colleagues will need lots of support and assistance. We have an opportunity to really drive the performance of our business through our people and make real step changes in the culture and ways of working, which the HR team are fundamental in.

Reporting to the HR Business Partner, you will provide HR support around business objectives such as performance management, recruitment, diversity, learning and development and employee relations. It’s highly likely that no two days will be the same. Of course, ensuring our HR policies, procedures and key objectives are implemented, followed and met within respective areas of responsibility is key. And building trusted and reliable business relationships will be essential in achieving this.

We work on the basis that we want people with the right attitude and skills to join our business. So, you may already have a few years HR experience at an administrative level or junior advisor level and be looking to develop your career, or you may have studied HR at university and be looking for your first step into the profession. If you can demonstrate the right attitude and understandings, you might be the right person for us.

The location of this role is flexible, with home working available. You may be required to travel to our Head Office in Coventry or some of our branches on occasion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the operation of all HR Policies and procedures – advising and supporting Branch Managers in their understanding and practice.
  • Support and guidance of Branch Managers on operational HR matters, including but not limited to ER, Recruitment, Training & Development, Performance Management and appraisals
  • Co-ordination of recruitment campaigns – from authorisation to pre-screening of CV’s and supporting with interviews (in liaison with HRBP and Recruitment Team).
  • Ensuring HR best practice is observed and adhered to across the branch network in relation to all activities. Challenge or escalate where appropriate
  • Creation of HR data and management reports
  • Assist with employee offers and contract processes, and procedures in relation to internal staff changes.
  • Support managers and HR Business Partner in implementing structural and cultural change processes in area of responsibility.
  • To undertake ad hoc projects with or for the HR Business Partner in order to improve working or other arrangements within the brand.
