The assessment of Building Regulation applications to show compliance with the regulations and associated legislation. Undertake site inspections to assess whether work complies with statutory requirements, and take necessary actions in cases of non-compliant work. The position of Building Control Engineer at Cheshire East Council will provide a varied caseload and a balance of home/office working and travelling for site inspections works. The role will involve undertaking assessment of Building Regulation applications in a customer focussed way, to ensure proposals meet with the building regulations and associated legislation. Site inspections of building works will be carried out to assess whether works comply with the regulations and necessary steps undertaken for non-compliant works. Clear, concise and accurate records of application assessments and site inspection works will be required. The role also involves the monitoring of unauthorised works and dangerous structures, and at times will include taking a lead role in ensuring public safety.
You must be organised, a good communicator and be able to prioritise a varied caseload. Applicants should have a background in building control or construction. The successful applicant will be provided with a training package towards a recognised qualification within building control.
