Scope/Purpose of the Position

The Closing Team Leader is responsible for assisting the reporting manager in managing the closing and funding queue to prepare and issue quality and compliant loan closing packages and funding disbursements. The Team Leader will manage a small pipeline of personal production within the closing and funding queue but will additional responsibilities in training, coaching and otherwise assisting the reporting manager with their assigned duties and special projects

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Administrative Training, coaching and/or mentoring piers including within the departmentAssisting with prioritization and assignment of the closing and funding queue.Assisting the reporting manager in resolving closing and/or post-closing escalations. Other duties or special projects as assigned by Operations Manager
  • Technical Expertise: Reviewing the loan application package to verify compliance with all closing and funding requirements, including, but not limited to:Data EntryApplicable Insurance DocumentsFee Variance Compliance rulesHigh Priced and/or High Cost Loan rulesTILA/RESPA Integrated Mortgage Disclosure (TRID) rulesState Specific compliance regulationsAuditing the loan application and closing package for completeness and accuracy prior to delivery of the closing package to the settlement agent Reviewing funding conditions for completeness and accuracy.Issuing funding authorization, accurate wire amounts, and funding
  • Work Experience and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven ability to motivate, develop, coach and mentor staff at all levels.
  • Excellent analytic skills, attention to detail, and ability to work within time constraints.
  • Excellent level of oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate across a variety of audiences.
  • Intermediate level of computer skills and the ability to function in a windows environment utilizing Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Prior experience with the Ellie Mae Encompass Loan Origination System or similar preferred.
  • Professional and effective interpersonal skills. Solid decision-making skills with display of professionalism in maintaining confidentiality. Ability to build strong relationships with internal business partners to achieve success.
  • Proven ability to motivate, develop, coach and mentor staff at all levels.
  • Ability to rapidly acquire detailed knowledge of departmental policies, practices and procedures.

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Prior management or team leadership experience strongly preferred
  • One to two years of prior experience preparing closing documents and funding loans in a residential mortgage operation
  • High school diploma or equivalent
