Full time teaching assistant job

A year 1 teaching assistant is needed for a large primary school on the outskirts of Cambridge. Teaching Personnel is seeking a teaching assistant who is proactive and has prior experience working within a primary setting. The Head Teacher has said they will be looking to appoint a permanent member of staff to work in key stage 1 and occasionally key stage 2.

You would be needed on a full-time basis Monday – Friday (8.45am - 3.30pm). The role consists of working in the classroom supporting children who are working below/ towards age related expectations in the class. The successful candidate would be expected to provide quality support in line with the Year 1 Curriculum framework.

In addition, you would be expected to deliver interventions to a small group of children. The interventions would be mainly focused on Phonics as well as Speech and Language development. You would be given allocated time to plan the interventions and receive support from the class teacher with regards to the objectives/ subject coverage. The Head teacher has commented that they would like to appoint a Teaching Assistant who is committed, and they would be keen to meet with suitable candidates who are interested in the role.

The Head Teacher is looking for the following:

  • Level 2 or above qualification
  • An experienced Primary Practitioner
  • Happy to deliver small group interventions
  • Familiar with the Letters and Sounds Phonics scheme of work
  • Keen to commit to a long-term role
  • Ability to work independently or part of a team
