Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHT) welcomes applicants to apply for the role of Service Support Manager within the Urology Department.
This role will be focused on the delivery of Imperial Urology’s elective inpatient services. The post holder will be responsible for co-ordinating Imperial Urology theatre lists at ICHT and at the Fast Track Surgical Hubs in North West London. The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team alongside consultants, junior doctors, nurses, pathway co-ordinators and operational managers to ensure that the service delivers safe and effective care to our patients.
We are looking for someone with operational management experience as well as experience of process improvement and with a high level of attention to detail. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills who and has the ability to work well as part of a large multidisciplinary team. The post will be of interest to those who wish to pursue a career in hospital management and would like to gain more experience in a busy service with a wide variety of challenges.
The Urology Department at Imperial sees approximately 26,000 outpatients and undertakes approximately 5,000 surgical procedures per year. In addition to general urology surgery, all consultants have subspecialist skills. The Urology Department is currently based on three sites Charing Cross Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital. Inpatient activity is situated at Charing Cross Hospital, with some outpatient and specialist elective work being undertaken at St Mary’s Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital. Imperial is a regional Urological Cancer Centre and hosts the North West London Urological Cancer Specialist MDT and is the supra-regional centre for Testis cancer along with Mount Vernon. The Urology Department is the primary user of the dedicated robotic theatre at Charing Cross Hospital.
The Urology Department is closely aligned with Imperial College London, with a Professor and Chair of Urology. The research focus is on diagnostics and treatment for prostate cancer and benign prostate disease. There is a strong focus on surgical innovation, this has led to Imperial holding a national referral practice for Rezum and Focal Therapy for Prostate Cancer.
