We are delighted to be able to advertise for a Software Engineer to join our super talented and highly dedicated team supporting our Loan Services arm of the business in our West Yorkshire office.

You will join a cross-functional technical development team to deliver new or enhanced capabilities across a portfolio of applications and supporting frameworks, this will be for our clients or internal change.

So, what will you be doing?

Building those key working relationships across our business is imperative as you work closely to design, build, test and deploy well-implemented, high quality software solutions which deliver real value to our business.

We encourage continuous improvement and you will drive this within the teams and development function. By having that mindset, it will allow you to maintain our existing systems through diligent assessment of impacts, troubleshooting problems and then implementing practical solutions.

Other key accountabilities will include:

  • Use your technical knowledge and expertise to design, build, test and deploy large and/or complex changes to applications
  • Work collaboratively within your development pod to define a technical approach, working to break down change into smaller deliverable increments
  • You’ll use your judgement to proactively evaluate and resolve any technical challenges and blockers to ensure you minimise impact on the team’s delivery and/or supported products
  • We will expect that you also keep abreast of emerging technical market trends and looks to share best practice and knowledge amongst your peers and the wider development function.

    What do we need from you?

    Of course, technical capability is important, and we will delve a little further into some of the technical competencies we are looking for, but we are also interested in the key qualities and softer skills that you can bring to us.

    You will have experience as a Software Developer/Engineer and will be a specialist in MS technologies, ideally .Net, C# but you will be keen to learn a breadth of technologies.

    Being a team player sounds obvious, but you must be keen on collaboration and be able to build great relationships not just with your team but stakeholders across our business.

    Other key skills and experience required:

  • If you lack experience in C# .Net then we would expect you have significant experience in , SQL, HRML, XML, CSS, , SOAP Services, MVC or WCF/Microservices
  • Used to working within an Agile environment
  • Experienced in application development and support within a complex enterprise context
  • Proven in encouraging continuous improvement and adoption of practices including automation, integration and delivery
  • As we work in this ‘new world’ where everything is currently remote, we need you to not be afraid to ask questions, use your initiative and be self-motivated to achieve results that deliver value.
