This is a great opportunity to share your knowledge of horticulture, crafts and community work with the people learning disability charity Brandon Trust supports, at Greenfields. Greenfields is a project for older people with learning disabilities based at Lawrence Weston Community Farm in Bristol. The project enables people to achieve outcomes in health & wellbeing and participation in the community, and mainly involves horticultural and craft activities.
Experience in health and social care is desirable but not essential, however creativity, a passion for enabling people to live fulfilled lives and a genuine interest in developing the project are crucial. We provide a full induction, training and on-going career development. This is a part-time job share role working on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, daytime working hours. (8.15am - 3.45pm).
About the role
You’ll assist the project leader with the implementation of initiatives aimed to achieve individual outcomes. Supporting people to fully participate in sessions centred on seasonal horticultural tasks, growing produce for sale, maintaining community gardens and producing crafts items, you’ll relish the opportunity to support the development of this service into a thriving community project.
Enthusiastic you have a positive ‘can do’ approach. You’re resourceful, innovative and able to work on your own initiative and as part of a group. You can communicate effectively with colleagues, groups and volunteers, and can provide horticultural advice for training and practical demonstrations. You have some experience of managing a team and a budget.
Level 2 in Horticulture or the ability to demonstrate equivalent vocational experience is desirable and Level 2 Maths and English qualifications (or equivalent), or the ability to demonstrate this capacity through assessment, are essential. You’ll have a UK/EU driving licence and a willingness to use your own car (we'll pay mileage expenses).
