Purpose of the Role


I am representing a client based in Sevenoaks, who are looking for a qualified/part qualified Service Charge accountant to assist the Interim Rent and Service Charge Manager in producing accurate, timely service charge accounts and data to business teamsand stakeholders.

You will be expected to provide proactive and high-quality financial information and advice to enable effective service charge budget management and control, including cost and overhead apportionment calculations.


Main Responsibilities

  • Produce leasehold and shared ownership year end accounts within relevant timescales
  • Set Service charges annually to maximise cost recovery and comply with service charge policy and relevant legislation
  • Set and monitor service charges budgets and undertake regular reconciliations
  • Accurate information and evidence of expenditure can be provided to residents in line with legislation and best practice.
  • Work collaboratively with wider business to support decision making through provision of robust and timely financial information
  • Provide financial reporting and analysis of service charges
  • Undertake transactional analysis to ensure full recovery of service charges
  • Produce financial analysis of utility, estate, and other complex contract billing to inform understanding in relation to usage
  • Produce service charge estimates to inform financial appraisals for new Development schemes and inform pricing when properties are ready for rent and sale
  • Ensure all statutory and regulatory requirements are complied with

Requirements:


  • Previous experience of cloud financials and CX Civica
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access
  • Experience of working in the social housing sector
  • CCAB qualified or part qualified with relevant experience
  • Extensive service charge accounting knowledge
  • Knowledge of Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002 consultation requirements
  • Experience of working in a complex and varied financial environment
  • Experience of working as part of a team to set budgets, produce regular financial management information and produce statutory accounts to financial standards
  • An understanding of the different tenure types they may encounter in the role (Leasehold/RTB/Shared Owner/Freehold (with & without charges)/Rented/etc)
