Description

We are looking to suitably qualified doctors to fill at least short-term gaps in our IMT3 posts from 7thFeb 2024.

These are 1 in Acute Internal Medicine(AIM) and 1 in Diabetes and Endocrinology. These are to fill Deanery rota gaps.

General medicine at Northampton General Hospital provides trainees with the opportunity to gain experience of all the medical specialties on one site.

Working on the wards provides excellent experience of the full range of medical problems.

The acute medicine is truly unselected, and many trainees have gained invaluable experience at the hospital before moving onto their chosen specialty.

The department is well supported by consultant staff with five consultant acute and specialist physicians on the Acute Admissions wards daily and senior ward rounds on all the medical wards.

There is a busy Same Day Emergency Centre also staffed by the Acute Team.

These posts will be based at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust and work within General Medical directorate.

The AIM post works on the Nye Bevan Assessment Hub, ED and SDEC according to service needs and the career aspirations of the successful applicants.

The D & E post works on the D & E specialist ward Creaton.

At present neither post has out-of-hours commitments but that may change. Extra OOH shifts are often available for those who wish to do them via Patchwork.

Please note these posts are not for MTI status and NGH cannot offer this within Medicine.

The post holder will work alongside their ward team of Consultants, SpRs, SCF and other junior medical staff along with all other multidisciplinary health care professionals.

Most of the training will be on-the-job with close involvement of the consultants.

The department has a weekly lunchtime teaching session and there will be opportunity to develop as an educator through support and training of junior colleagues.

Northampton General Hospital is one of the largest employers in the area and we are on an exciting journey. All our divisions are committed to doing things better, with more efficiency as we update, modernise, and advance.

We have also entered a Group Model with neighbouring Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and become University Hospitals of Northamptonshire.
