Description

Location - Gloucestershire
Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable pupils with special educational needs and life limiting barriers?

Do you want to work with other likeminded practitioners, with shared values in an inclusive, nurturing business?

Do you want to be part of a culture that supports both personal and professional progression?

If so, this is an exciting opportunity to join the ever-growing team at Bespoke Mentoring and Training Services.

We are looking for Specialist Provision SEN Mentors who will provide positive support and appropriate challenge, for pupils with a range of specific needs through high quality mentoring and creative learning opportunities.

Bespoke Mentoring have been supporting both children and adults across Gloucestershire since 2017 to re-engage, develop and achieve their full potential.

The 1-1 mentoring roles we are offering include crucial partnerships with referring services and other professionals involved in the young person's journey.

We are looking for a number of potential mentors who have previous experiences of working with 11-24 year olds who have Education and Health Care plans (EHCPs) and who need support to engage with every day opportunities and curriculum focussed learning.

Prior experience in the supporting of achieving EHCP targets will be essential for these roles, but for those who have not had previous experiences in a mentoring role, full training will be offered during induction.

Previous experience of mentoring would be desirable, but not essential.

Our contracts are usually 15 hours a week, per young person, with 3 hours additional planning/reporting time.

The right mentor can choose to support just one, or may wish to take on two young people, over a week.

Budgets alongside delivery, have been included to cover entrance costs to facilities where this allows the young person to access the curriculum or life experience (Agreed beforehand).

Weekly planning will be expected alongside linked risk assessments - Training and ongoing support will be given for this.

Contracts are based on term time support only.

New contracts come in on a regular basis so new opportunities will always be there to take the place of current contracts, that do eventually cease.

Weekly delivery will consist of roughly 10 hours mentoring and 5 hours curriculum/learning delivery (In a form accessible to the young person and this is where your background experience of this will be essential).

In return for your commitment, dedication and passion to help these young people, we as a management team offer support and challenge where needed, a vision with shared values at its core and a commitment to both professional development, and open and honest conversations about the pathways of the young people we support.

We are very aware of our role Bespoke Mentoring plays in the safeguarding of all young people, so we do recruit using rigorous safer recruitment practices where background screening and full background checks including work history and references will be sought after and checked, before the award of any contracts.

If you think you have the skills to fulfil this role and are genuinely kind and caring in your approaches to supporting young people, please send us a copy of an up to date CV and a covering letter detailing any additional information you think will give us confidence that you have the ability to pick up and run with this role quickly and share with us the passion you have for working with young people with specific needs.

Mentors must have a full driving license and be willing to transport young people where needed (To access learning or planned experiences).

Salary - £20 p.h. plus travel expenses at 45p a mile, based on a flexible 15 hours a week delivery and 3 hours a week planning, preparation, reflection time. Term time delivery only. Set contract lengths. New starters will take up casual worker contracts and be able to access ongoing work as and when new contracts come in. Opportunities will be offered on initial 6 month contracts with the option to extend once this period has been completed successfully and the mentor has agreed to continue in their current contract, or new one.

Closing Date

Friday 24th February - First round of interviews will take place on the 3rd March Lydney Office, Forest of Dean.
