Reporting to the Head of Technical our Food Technologist will be responsible for developing and managing the supply chain assurance programme, ensuring our suppliers are accredited and approved, and that our products are safe, legally compliant and rigorously assessed to the specification.

Key Responsibilities of the role:


  • To ensure appropriate supplier accreditation and approval processes are in place.
  • To conduct a supplier risk assessment programme and ensure appropriate monitoring programmes are in place for all suppliers.
  • To ensure all products have an uptodate specification which has been validated and approved. This includes allergen and nutritional declarations and all aspects of the product formulation and claims.
  • To ensure all food information (e.g. allergen and nutrition) is complete, accurate and legally compliant, and to prepare customer focused information.
  • To enter and maintain all required food information and data into BRG's systems, in particular allergen and nutritional data into Starchef.
  • To manage complaints relating to products and analyse and investigate them to conclusion, liaising with suppliers.
  • To establish and manage a regular product evaluation programme including organoleptic, analytical and microbiological assessment.
  • To establish and manage "technical to technical" relationships with BRG suppliers.
  • To support the food development process ensuring all suppliers and products introduced to the business meet our required standards.
  • To advise the brands' food teams to ensure menus and other customer communications meet legal and regulatory requirements.
  • To support the development of the brands food policies (including factory standards, product formulation and permitted ingredients, allergen management including "may contains" ethical trading and sustainable sourcing, nutrition and health and carbon reduction and reporting.
