About Primary Eyecare Services
Primary Eyecare Services (PES) is an established provider of high-quality extended eye care services (those beyond sight testing) utilising a large network of optical practice subcontractors across England (~2500).
PES currently holds and manages contracts on behalf of the primary eye care network, spanning ~70 NHS commissioners and delivering over 380,000 episodes of patient care each year with a total annual turnover of ~£25+million.
PES is a not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee. This sees the majority of generated income pass through to frontline eye care services in optical practices.Role Purpose:
We are at an exciting time in the development of our company and now want to expand the failsafe team.
The person appointed will support the Lead Failsafe Officer with a variety of responsibilities to support patient safety across the organisation.
Your duties will include:
- Work with internal team coordinators and senior leaders to develop effective processes and training.
- Assist with the implementation of service failsafe including data collation, distribution, and oversight.
- Acting as a point of contact for optical practices with overdue episodes of care, providing guidance and support to ensure patients are seen within clinical guidelines.
- Using inhouse dashboards to determine practice performance.
- Work collaboratively with clinical leads to support areaspecific failsafe projects.
- Act as a contact for school screening teams to assist with enquiries relating to the postvision screening service.
- Completion of weekly notifications to patients and practitioners taking part n the virtual glaucoma triage service.
- Complaints management support handling cases with discretion and sensitivity.
- Act as a point of escalation to senior leaders and line managers if any concerns arise.
- Collaborate with RMS to ensure OPERA help library remains detailed and relevant.
- Take part in internal team & external team meetings to answer failsafe enquiries and provide effective solutions.
- Answer failsafe & governance enquires via Help Scout.
You will also have a responsibility for ensuring good relationships with key stakeholders - with Local Optical Committees, subcontractor practices and hospital staff.
Person Specification:
The post-holder must possess a variety of skills and proven demonstrable experience of:
- Experience of supporting delivery of community service.
- Experience of working with Primary Care Optical Practices.
- Experience using Opera /eRs & Microsoft Office.
- Excellent Interpersonal skills.
- Ability to implement and support new initiatives to improve patient safety.
- Ability to cope effectively under pressure whilst delivering results.
- Demonstrate ability to work effectively as a team member assisting colleagues to deliver objectives.
- Ability to express information in a clear, concise, and understandable way both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to manage priorities.
- Caring and empathetic attitude to patients.
- Act in ways that support equality and promote diversity.
