My client is looking for an experienced Data Migration and Backend Engineer to join their growing business on a permanent, fully remote basis.

The main purpose of the role is migrating customer data for new and existing clients from 3rd party systems ontotheir internal systems, and would therefore suit a previous SQL DBA or SQL developer with strong SQL and T-SQL scripting experience, as well as a background as a Developer with any.

NET, C# and MVC experience being beneficial.

Job specification:


The Data Migration Engineer works within a diverse technical team and is responsible for migrating customer data for new and existing clients from 3rd party and internal business systems.

You will be working in a multi-disciplinary team using your data analysis,SQL, and scripting skills to assist in the migration of customer data from one system to another.

As a strong problem solver, you will coordinate and manage migrations for the client's customers.

The role is ideal for those who enjoy diagnosing data issuesand working with infrastructure and development teams to resolve them.

This would suit someone with a strong understanding the validity of requirements based on the reality of the data are understood i.e., are you competent with Bit shifting, column hyperloading, fuzzy logic matching, and complex backend logic if so this role will appeal to you.


Requirements for the role:

  • SQL/T-SQL Scripting Skills and data integration & manipulation skills
  • Strong MS Excel Knowledge
  • Experience of database migration software and technologies
  • Collaboration with multiple diverse teams
  • Ability to diagnose and fix data issues
  • Familiarity with operating with different levels of stakeholders (business and technical)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and manage data migrations for the clients' Customers
  • Provide DM training/consultancy to internal and external stakeholders
  • Work with technical & business teams to run and improve customer data migrations
  • Liaise with customers during project lifecycle
  • Diagnose and fix reported data issues
  • Develop and maintain DM toolset
  • Manage queries/tickets promptly and offer solutions within agreed SLA
  • Ensuring data security policies are followed
  • Responsible for keeping technical documentation up to date
