Gleeson Recruitment Group are working exclusively in partnership with a leading Engineering business within the Oil and Gas industry in Aberdeen, who are looking to appoint a Head of Finance in a newly created position.

Following an exciting acquisition, there has been a modernisation and cultural shift within the business and they are looking for a forward-thinking Head of Finance to improve processes, drive change, implement a new ERP system and help lead the Financeteam through this transformational phase.

You will report into the Regional FD in the Europe and be number 1 in Finance on site in Aberdeen, so there is a real opportunity for autonomy and to be a senior figure within the business, working in partnership with the Managing Director.

Key responsibilities of the Head of Finance role:

Support and assist the Managing Director and other Heads of Department in the day to day management of the company, and the formulation and implementation of the overall strategic long term business plan
Working as part of the senior management team to coordinate and efficiently manage all business activities
Managing the budget, with a focus on quality of information, including budget setting, performing periodic reviews and proper detailed deviation analysis with advice and corrective actions where appropriate
Providing general financial advice, information and support to line managers/employees within the company
Oversee and support in the preparation of the consolidated monthly management accounts, in addition to performing detailed reviews of periodic results
Prepare and lead monthly and periodic result reviews with Head Office Executives
Ensuring timely and accurate periodic and yearend reporting under IAS, IFRS and UK GAAP
Risk management and in particular mitigating/hedging of foreign exchange rate risks
Assuring an adequate Internal Control System and efficient Policies and Procedures
Overseeing internal and external legal and financial audits
Being the driving force behind initiating and implementing efficiency and process improvements within the Finance and Controlling function, in addition to contributing to and supporting similar initiatives in the overall organisation.
Drive the development of the local IT system, take a leading role in the implementation of an ERP system

Key requirements of the Head of Finance position:

Proven experience with working in engineering service or products industry at a senior level
Strong Leadership and commercial knowledge
Very strong problem solving and organisational skills and proven ability to prioritise responsibilities and processes
Excellent analytical skills
Effective and confident communicator
Ability to coordinate and manage multiple improvement initiatives at once
Experience and open minded attitude to change and change management
Good computer skills and ERP system experience
Essential technical knowledge of IFRS, UK-GAAP
ACA, CIMA or ACCA or International equivalent
