Ambulance Care Assistant - Plymouth

£22,000-£26,000

Full-Time vacancy working on a 4-on 4-off shift pattern including 30-min unpaid break.


Shifts can be adjusted to any time between 0600 and 0100 by leadership but this is the shift pattern we are recruiting for currently and we do not envisage this changing.


The role will require you to transport low dependency patients to and from treatment centres in a comfortable, caring, compassionate, empathetic and reassuring, timely manner to defined standards based on the principles of CQC standard domains - Caring, Responsive, Effective, Well Led and Safe - C.R.E.W.S.

Key elements of the role

  • Maintain high standards of patient Care demonstrated by maintaining patient dignity, respect and privacy, communicating effectively delivering a service in an empathetic manner
  • Support the delivery of a Responsive service delivery to meet individual needs of patients and continual improvement of service delivery, providing the necessary level of flexibility, working beyond shift finish times to complete duties
  • Effective service by working effectively as a team to ensure patient centred care and service
  • Support the management team to ensure well led service by reporting concerns, communicating with line managers
  • Provide Safe services by the safe use of equipment and vehicles, safe comfortable driving and maintenance of infection control standards
  • Use and care of equipment
  • Reliable and ontime
  • Timeliness of reporting completion or amendments to planned journeys
  • Careful and considerate drivers.
  • Understanding of patients' abilities (conditions/ limitations)
  • Good people skills with a polite and friendly manner
  • You will be required to move patients
  • A good knowledge of the local area
  • A full driving licence
  • An enhanced disclosure check is required (DBS) cost will be covered by the business
  • Able to provide a minimum of 2 references covering a 5 year period before commencing work
