We are seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join our team at HMP YOI Bronzefield. As a SENCO, you will play a vital role in providing tailored education support and interventions to prisoners with diverse learning needs. In addition to this you will be responsible for giving neurodiversity support to all prisoners.
Responsibilities
- Assessing and identifying individual learning requirements of each prisoner with special needs.
- Developing and implementing personalised education plans to cater to everyone's needs.
- Collaborating with teaching staff, counsellors, and other professionals to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Monitoring and evaluating the progress of prisoners, adjusting strategies as needed.
- Promoting inclusion and equal opportunities for all learners within the prison setting.
- Keeping uptodate records and maintaining clear communication with relevant stakeholders.
- Relevant qualification on special education or a related field.
- PGCE or QTLS
- Experience in working with individuals with special educational needs, particularly with a correctional or rehabilitation setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration and support.
- Empathy, patience, and a nonjudgemental attitude towards prisoners/ learning challenges.
- Organisational skills to manage individualised education plans and maintain accurate documentation.
Package Description
£43, £39,412.38 PA plus £3,729.24 PA London Weighting)
