Working Mon - Fri 6-2 hourly rate £ £12.05 depending on experience

2-10 shift hourly rate as above plus 15% shift premium.

OT available throughout the week and weekends

As a machine operator you will be able to manufacture a range of fixings in line with customer requirements via the Operation of a variety of metal working, power presses, cutting and wire forming machines.

Carry out a number of secondary tasks/processes in order to satisfy customer requirements.

Products should be put away / transferred downstream in a safe and organised manner to meet customer service requirements


Key tasks & responsibilities

Production

Competently operate a variety of Power Presses, metal forming and cutting equipment to efficiently manufacture a range of standard and bespoke fixings in line with customer / business expectations.

Carry out a number of secondary tasks/processes in order to satisfy customer requirements.

Competently operate a variety of power presses, metal forming and cutting equipment ensuring appropriate level of quality and optimum production speeds are maintained and minimise material used.

Precisely manufacture the exact number of items required on an order / production schedule.


Constantly observe, monitor and provide timely feedback re line speed, tool life, quality/equipment issues or process improvement opportunities to Shift Supervisor.


Identify, stack/pack components in correct Kanban, bin/boxes in an appropriate manner and safely put away / transfer to down-stream process.

Safely dispose, segregate and record production and process scrap.
Ensure all equipment/work tooling is kept in a good state of repair and routinely maintain the machine.
Any maintenance issues should be promptly reported to Supervisor.
Maintain an adequate stock of consumables and packaging materials by requesting further supplies.

Quality


Adhere to all quality procedure ensuring products are manufactured to an appropriate standard and products conform to specified tolerances and company standards.

Paying particular attention that first off, in process and last off inspections are undertaken.
Ensure level of work is performed to appropriate standards first time.
Report any non-conforming work and carry out corrective action

Health & Safety


Ensure compliance with all company and legal obligations as outlined in our health & safety and environmental policies and procedures.

Abide by site H&S policies and procedures, with special consideration for safe systems of work and practices.
Comply with all safe working procedures, practices, rules, regulations and instructions given by supervision/management.
Wear protective clothing and other PPE appropriate for the task.
Maintain good housekeeping within your dept/cell/ and across the site.
Competently perform daily inspection and testing of safety devices required by the PUWER Regulations / H&S polices.
Report any incident, near miss or any unsafe situation immediately to the first line supervisor or site manager.
Only operate machinery for which you have received the appropriate training or licence.
