Amethyst Care & Support Group Limited is an ambitious, inclusive, and forward-thinking organisation and you must be committed to developing and enhancing the services we provide.


Were looking to recruit experienced support workers and those looking to expand their experience and who can demonstrate a passion to make a difference, every day, to our service users, who are diagnosed with a mental health need.


The service operates mainly Monday to Friday between 09:00am and 5:00pm and you will be required to use your own vehicle for work purposes, this may include taking people to appointments and to other places of their choice (mileage will be paid at 45p per mile).


Key responsibilities

  • Support and encouragement to Service Users with their personal care ensuring optimum independence, dignity, and respect of individuals where applicable.
  • Support and encouragement with the preparation of meals beverages, encouraging and assisting, promoting independence.
  • Ensure cleanliness is always promoted and encouraged whilst supporting individuals within peoples own homes.
  • Ensuring all relevant documentation are kept up to date and in line with the organisations Data Protection policy. This includes care plans, communication logbooks etc.
  • Understand personal responsibilities about Health and Safety at Work legislation, particularly in relation to moving and handling of Service Users and fire safety and evacuation procedures.
  • Act courteously towards Service Users and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each Service User.
  • All of your actions will demonstrate respect for the rights of people you support, and for their decisions and choices. You will promote peoples individuality, where necessary advocating on their behalf.
  • Some of your time may involve encouraging physical care prompting in accordance with the individuals care plan, respecting their dignity and preferences. This could include supporting and encouraging people to wash, dress, take medication or manage their continence.
  • You will support people to achieve their personal outcomes in relation to managing their daily life. This could include support to use transport, keep their home clean, prepare meals, use community leisure facilities, visit family and friends, and attend college or work.
  • Its important that you take steps to find out about each persons preferred method of communication, demonstrating active listening and always encouraging their communication, for example through words, pictures, signing or behaviour.
  • Where people do not have capacity to make some decisions in their life, you will offer support, guidance and advice that is in their best interest. You will equally seek advice from management to ensure the right actions are undertaken and the Service Users choice is respected.

What you'll need to succeed

Access to a vehicle, this is a community-based role supporting service users in their own homes.**This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has an interest in mental health and is looking to either progress within mental health or an existing support worker who is looking for their next challenge.


The key is the ability to demonstrate a passion to deliver excellent service to vulnerable adults in a dignified manner.

You will need to be able to work independently as well as within a team, and have the confidence to interact with those we support with patience and compassion.


To meet our commitment to providing safe, high quality services to those we support, we will complete an enhanced background check with the Disclosure and Barring service, which will include a check of the Adult Barred list, once an offer of employment is made.
