About Directorate


The aim of the Family Service is to ensure that all children and young people in Barnet achieve the best possible outcomes and to enable them to become successful adults, especially our most vulnerable children.

They should be supported by high quality, integrated and inclusive services that identify additional support needs early, are accessible, responsive and affordable for the individual child and their family.


About the role


An exciting career opportunity has arisen for a full time systems support and training officer within our Family Services systems team.


The duties of the role include:

  • Supporting the effective management of Family Services systems ensuring they enhance and maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of the service and enable it to meet its statutory duties.
  • Provide accessible and responsive system support in respect to complex Family Services systems in relation to Social Care, Early Intervention and Early Years via a helpdesk or similar approach, based on significant knowledge of system processes.
  • Develop and provide high quality training for system users to support the effective and efficient use of systems, setting standards to include the development of user guides that translate technical terms into practical guidance for practitioners.
  • To deliver an efficient data and information management service
  • Ensure that data management and protection policies and protocols are adhered to within the Children's Service.

About you

  • Expertise in and experience of supporting and training others in the use of computer systems and specialist software
  • Knowledge of business processes in relation to Social Care, Early Intervention and Early Years
  • Proven competency to handle personal and sensitive personal information in a secure and appropriate manner.
  • Successful experience and /or knowledge of working within a local Authority, or in an equivalent organisation/ environment
  • Understanding of the principals of safeguarding with a record of achievement and commitment in improving the safeguarding of children and young people.
  • Ability to manage complex workloads and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to analyse complex information quickly, reaching and articulating decisions with clarity
