The University


The University of Cambridge is one of the foremost employers in the region, currently employing over 12,500 people from all over the world.

The Student Funding and Fee Policy Team sits within the Access and Admissions section of Education Services, supporting the academic purposes of the University, and provides a range of funding to students through the Cambridge Bursary Scheme, Postgraduate scholarships, and student loans.

It also plays a co-ordinating role for funding administered elsewhere in the Collegiate University.


About the Role


This is a rewarding opportunity to work on a key widening participation Scheme that enables students from low income households to attend the University of Cambridge, where they otherwise may not have been able to, through the Cambridge Bursary Scheme (CBS) and undergraduate scholarships.

The role is based in the Student Funding and Fee Policy Team (SFT), and is responsible for the operational side of the Cambridge Bursary Scheme, working alongside a colleague who focusses on the policy side of the Scheme.


You will:

  • Ensure the effective operation of the Cambridge Bursary Scheme
  • Oversee the awards management for the bursary recipients and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Take responsibility for accurate financial reporting for the bursaries to stakeholders.
  • Deal with data requests supplying data to stakeholders as appropriate and in line with privacy policies.
  • Oversee the undergraduate scholarships programme and related financial management.
  • Take responsibility for the communications channels for both external and internal stakeholders which includes the webpages, undergraduate open days and communication to students both current and prospective and the colleges.

What you will need:

  • To be educated to Degree Level or a Level 6 vocational qualification or equivalent level of practical experience.
  • To be an experienced user of Microsoft Office.
  • To have excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and communication skills.
  • To demonstrate advanced knowledge of programme/course coordination.
